Railways will open Jan Sadharan ticket counters in various places to bring down last-minute rush at unreserved ticket counters in railway stations. The private counters will issue tickets to commuters three days in advance of the journey date.
Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division has invited applications for appointing agents in its limits stretching from Nagercoil to Vallathol Nagar (in Thrissur district). Each agent should set up an office with telephone connection. Railways will install an unreserved ticketing system terminal, along with requisite equipment.
The agents could collect Re.1 as commission from each passenger. The applicant should have completed 18 years of age and passed matriculate-level examinations. He or she should be a resident of the area served by the railway station.
A character certificate from the District Magistrate or the Additional District Magistrate should be produced. To be paid are a refundable interest-free security deposit of Rs.15,000 and a bank guarantee of Rs.40,000.
