New Authority to Control Flat Construction in Kerala

Trivandrum, August 16: Government have decided to set up a special authority to control the flat construction in the State.

Trivandrum will be the head quarters of the authority. there will be three members in the team where one will be a judicial expert, one will be a technical expert and one government official.

Now the situation is, if anyone wants to build a flat in a place, the parties should acquire a no objection certificate from the Panchayat, Municipality or Corporation after submitting the plan of the building. But by the addition of the new authority, one could approach this authority first.

If the authority allows the construction company, then only they can approach the respective local self governing office for the remaining activities.

The company should provide a complete description about the flat, its price per unit, the funding source for the construction, the basic necessities like parking and other details etc.. The authority will scrutinize each aspects in detail before sanctioning orders.

Government is also planning to give a Tribunal's power also to the authority to handle disputes between the flat purchaser and seller or developer.
