TRIDA's New Bus Terminal To Save East-Fort

Trivandrum, August 25: Trivandrum Development Authority designs a new project to save East Frot and its trafic snarl. The project basically consists of a new bus terminal. The desired location is in the space of Attakulangara High School.

There is 5 and half acres of land is available now with Attakulangara school. Trida opts for taking care of the total land and to develop a new building with all modern facilities in one acre and 25 cents of land.

The remaining 4 acres and 25 cents of land would be used for developing a modern terminal which can operate 50 buses at a time. The capacity for operating buses in the new terminal would be equal to Chennai and Bangalore Bus terminals.

Trida conducted a study in busy East Fort bus stops and found that now it is operating 20 buses at a time in various bus stops, that are in front of Sree Padmanabha theatre and opposite Putharikandam ground.

The plan is to develop a 4 way Bus Bay which will cut down the heavy traffic to one fourth. The current bus parking style will completely stopped according to the new project plan.

The buses coming to Eastfort would collect the passengers and should go to the new terminal without any hault. The front portion of Sree Padmanabha theatre would be the entrance gate of the terminal. Buses can collect passengers and should go to the Attakulangara road through the alternative way. There will be no stops in between. Trida also proposes the building of a shopping complex and foot path for convenience.
