Trivandrum, 4 January 2012: Trivandrum Development Authority (TRIDA) is planning to launch a 90 crore project for developing Chalai to a world class commercial area.
TRIDA plans to develop 6 acres at Chalai to build a commercial complex, vegetable market, parking spaces and build new roads. Two new roads of width 21 m and 12 m each which will link Attakulangara-Killipalam bypass to Chalai are proposed to prevent traffic congestion. The space for a solid waste management plant inside the Chalai area is also planned.
The plan is awaiting approval at the ministry of Urban affairs, and the work is expected to begin after getting sufficient clearance from the government.
The preliminary work is expected to be completed within six months and the entire project will be completed in three years.
