Trivandrum, 30 May 2012: India's first Vehicle activated automatic traffic control system has been installed at Vellayambalam junction, Trivandrum.
The automatic traffic control system uses surveillance camera to find out how big the traffic is and manages the signal system accordingly. Unlike the traditional system of programmed time delay traffic control, the automated system can control vehicles more effectively at peak times.
The system developed by Keltron and C-Dac was inaugurated by state minister KV Ibrahim Kunju yesterday.
