Trivandrum, 26 May 2012: Kerala Government has banned the manufacture and sale of gutka and tobacco containing pan masala in the state. The ban has been enforced under Food Safety and Standards Regulation Act, 2011 citing health concerns.
The notification issued by the Commissioner prohibits the manufacture, storage, distribution and sale of these products that contain tobacco and nicotine in the state.
Kerala becomes the second state after Madhya Pradesh to implement the ban.
