Trivandrum, 23 July 2012: Lakshmi Sehgal (Captain Lakshmi), 97 noted freedom fighter died of cardiac arrest at Kanpur today morning. She was suffering from age related ailments.
Lakshmi Sehgal born at Palakkad, Kerala on 24th October 1914 was a revolutionary woman freedom fighter, leader of the Indian National Army, and the Minister of Women's Affairs in the Azad Hind government. She was the candidate of the Left parties to the Presidential elections in the year 2002. She has also conferred Padma Vibhushan in 1998.
