Knowledge City to come up at Trivandrum

Trivandrum, 29 May, 2012: Sam Pitroda, the Prime Minister’s adviser on Public Information Infrastructure & Innovation and the chief mentor of the Kerala state has presented 10 business projects to boost the development of the state.

Five projects has been announced by Mr. Pitroda which includes a Knowledge City to be set up at Trivandrum. Other projects will be from the ayurveda, e-governance, waste management, coastal shipping sectors. The projects will be implemented under Public-Private Participation models.

The Knowledge City will include a cluster of knowledge institutions and is expected to employ 20,000 professionals and offer indirect jobs to 2 lakh people.

 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) will be the global partner for the initiative, individually or in combination with Harvard University. Around 300 acres adjacent to the Techopark, Kazhakootam is the proposed area for the development of the Knowledge City.
