Parnasala of Santhigiri Ashram, Trivandrum

The President of India Smt. Pratibha Patil will inaugurate the Parnasala of Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru at Santhigiri Ashram, Trivandrum on August 13, 2010. The function will be attended by Shri.R.S.Gavai(His Excellency the Governor of Kerala) Shri.Ramesh Chennithala(KPCC President), Shri.Kodiyeri Balakrishnan (Minister for Home & Tourism, Govt. of Kerala), Shri.Sashi Tharoor M.P , etc

The parnasala, which is the final resting place of Karunakakra Guru is constructed in pure white marble in the shape of a lotus. The structure which is a place for worship of people of all relegion and community will be opened for regular worship on September 12, 2010.



The Parnasala, standing at 91 feet tall and 84 feet diameter is the largest of its kind in the world. The shrine constructed in the shape of a lotus in full bloom has 12 petals (representing Twelve ‘Rasi’) in the top, 9 petals (representing nine ‘Griham’) towards its base and 27 pillars (representing 27 'Nakshatrams'). Each petal in the top with 41 feet height, and each base petal with 31 feet height exhibits an exceptional architectural skill compared to its contemporaries

An one month long celebrations are being held at the Ashram in connection with the Parnasala dedication. This inclcude an international conference on 'global warming, climate change, sustainable development and secular spiritualism,' from September 9-11.

Santhigiri Ashram, situated at Pothencode, 21 km north of Thiruvananthapuram, was founded by Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru in 1968.
