Stockholm convention has unanimously decided to ban Endosulfan globally. However the convention has given India 5 years to gradually decrease the usage of the pesticide. India had asked exemption for the Endosulfan ban, since the country uses the pesticide for 16 crops extensively.
The convention has directed world nations to issue regulations on the ban of Endosulfan within one year.
