Trivandrum, 31 May 2011: The new 10th standard Social Science text book has created controversy in the state. The Catholic Church has objected the content of the text citing the textbook propogated Marxist political ideology and contains anti-church content.
Following the controversy, the UDF government has set-up a committee headed by former chief secretary Dr. D Babu Paul.
According to the church authorities, the textbook which was prepared by the research council under the LDF (Marxist) rule, was deliberately made to propogate their ideology, says Fr. Philip Nelpuraparambil, secretary of the Education Commission of KCBC.
