Trivandrum, 23 June 2011: A massive fire broke out in the Connemara market, the busiest market in the city at 4:30am on Wednesday.
The fire has destoyed more than 15 shops and damaged several other.
The fire was made under control by six units of Fire and rescue vehicles from Rajaji Nagar and Chakkai.
The cause of the fire is not confirmed yet, however police has dismissed the possibility of an electric short circuit. A loss of 10 lakh rupees has been estimated.
Meanwhile the city coporation is planning to setup a modern shopping complex inside the Connemara market.
