For the purpose of starting the tripleIT, the state government should arrange 50 acres of land. Rs 128 crores will be the initial investment.
The original plan was to start the institute in Trivandrum, but there is IIITMK is already working in the capital, so the council of ministers decided to transfer it to Kottayam.
In the primary stage, the institute will offer B. Tech in IT.
The 50% investment is from Central government, 35% by state government and15% from private parties. There is a provision in the system that the private party who is investing in the development of infrastructure, must be an IT Company which is working in the state.
