Trivandrum, 29 November 2011: "Made in Jail" branded Chapatis will be now available for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and that too for Rs. 2 each. The new facility of selling chapatis made by the prisoners in the Poojappura central jail using the chapati making machine has been inaugurated by Tamil actor Cheran and actress Mukta yesterday.
The plan to market the chapatis made by the prisoners was conceived by Additional Director General of Police (Prisons) Alexander Jacob.

The Central prisons in Trivandrum, Kannur and Thrissur are having semi-automatic Chappathy makers which can produce 2000 chappathies per hour. The Poojappura Central jail authorities plan to make and market 20,000 daily. A bulk order of 500 or more Chapatis can be made by calling 0471 2342138.
