Trivandrum, 29 December 2011: The report of the Theater classification committee of the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy has been received by minister KB Ganesh Kumar.
The committee evaluated A, B class theatres in 14 districts in Kerala by classifying them into South zone (Trivandrm, Kollam , Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha districts), Central zone (Idukki, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad districts), North Zone (Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasargod districts). The parameters analysed includes projection, sound, vleanliness, audience, maintenance, seating, AC/Non AC, parking, relasing centres, distance, overall ambience etc.
399 theatres in various parts of Kerala has been evaluated of which 385 theatres has been listed into different grades. The number of theatres in various grades is as follows
II grade - 29
III grade - 81
IV grade - 127
V grade - 86
Anand Theatre in Kottayam is the only theatre that scored more than 90 marks in Kerala. The committee has recommended 'Platinum status' for fifteen theatres in Kerala (five each from each zone). The theatres shortlisted for 'Platinum Theatres' are
