Trivandrum, February 15, 2012: Non Residents Kerala Affairs Department (NORKA), is planning to introduce a scholarship programme to children of overseas Malayalees.
In an interview to Manorama Online, the NORKA CEO has said that an amount of Rs. 50 lakh rupees will be alloted for this programme. Around 1000 students who are the children of Non resident Keralites can avail the scholarship. The amount will be provided from the Norka Directors Fund and the recipients will be selected based on the income of the families.
In addition to this NORKA also plans to introduce an insurance scheme for Keralites working in other states outside Kerala. The scheme is planned in association with United India Assurance company.
