Trivandrum: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved the study of engineering in eight languages of the country, including Malayalam. The opportunity is from the new academic year 2020-21.
Engineering studies will be now available in Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati and Kannada. The decision was made to provide opportunities for children from rural tribes. Even students who excel in learning in rural areas and elsewhere will stay away from Iowa courses for fear of English. Countries such as Germany, France, Russia, Japan and China have offered opportunities to study Iowa courses in their local languages.
The decision has been taken to expand the degree engineering courses to 11 languages in future.
