Mathsyothsavam: Fish Festival at Trivandrum


The fish festival exhibition and trade event at the putharikkandam maithanam receives huge response. The exhibition organized to highlight the development in the fisheries sector is a new experience says the public.

The sea food kitchen filled with traditional and exotic fish cuisines from Kerala and Tamil Nadu is of much attraction.

The exhibition with more than hundreds of ornamental fishes is breathtaking. When beauty and peacefulness crowns the mermaid fishes,violent and wild lion fishes also rules the exhibition.

The handsome lion fishes carry thorns on their wings which are sharp and poisonous. The lion fishes have a zebra pattern of black and white cross lines. With a growth up to 35 cms, they can cost you anywhere around Rs 5000 to 1 lakh.

A second venue with sales of fish and fish products by various private organizations is also on the hit list. Fish pickles, “konju chammandi”, etc are the value added products of most demand you can find in these stalls.

The third venue of seafood kitchen is ready to welcome you with mouth watering roasted “karimeen”, fish molly and more ‘fishy’ delicacies to fill your tummy.

Entrance to the festival is from 9am to 8 pm. Entrance fee for adults is Rs 10 and for children below 12 is Rs 5.the festival ends on Feb. 28. So wait for what, see, eat and enjoy some fish!
