Assembly Elections 2011: Kerala goes to polling booth on 13th April


Kerala will go to polling booth for casting their votes in the Assembly election 2011 on 13 April 2011. The Congress led alliance UDF will take on ruling CPI(M) led LDF on 140 constituencies.

Both the alliances look forward for victory in the state assembly elections. Heavy weight leaders of leading parties in the state are contesting in the elections and national level leaders such as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, LK Advani, Narendra Modi, Mayawati etc addressed the election campaigns.

Altogether there are 20758 polling booths and 27 other polling stations for 22 million Kerala voters.

The Highest number of voters (1648) in a booth is at Vengara constituency in Malappuram district while in Ramanthuruthu at Kochi constituency has the least number of voters (30). 3703 polling stations have been identified as sensitive booths of which Kannur district has 1000 odd booths.

Voters can use the election identity card or the election identity slip (both with photograph and distributed by the election commission of Kerala) for identification in the booth. The voting slips can be availed from help-desks of election commission which will be available at the booth premises.

Polling will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.
