Trivandrum International Airport is located near Shanghumugham, 4 kms from the city centre is the 8th busiest airport in India.
The Trivandrum International Airport is the first airport in the state of Kerala and also the ISO 9001-2000 certified airport in the state.

The airport was established in 1932 as part of the Royal Flying Club under the initiative of Colonel Goda Varma Raja.
The first flight from the airport took off on 1 November 1935, which carried mails to Bombay. The Trivandrum Airport became the first international airport in India outside metros On 1 January 1991.
The airport houses a new international terminal which was inaugurated on On 1 March 2011.
