Trivandrum, 23 September 2011: Adaminte Makan Abu, Malayalam film directed by Salim Ahmed, starring Salim Kumar and Sareena Wahab has been selected as India's official entry to the Oscars 2012 for Best Foreign Language Film.
Adaminte Makan Abu which won several state and national awards like the Best Feature Film, Best Actor Award in National Film Awards 2011 has been recommended by the jury headed by JP Dutta.
Adaminte Makan Abu is the second malayalam film to be selected as an Official Entry to Oscars from India. The first Malayalam movie for Oscar entry was Guru directed by Rajiv Anchal starring Mohanlal in the year 1997.
Eventhough India over 40 films to Oscars in foreign language category over the years, no Indian film has ever won the award.
The movies which competed along with Adaminte Makan Abu for India's entry included No one Killed Jessica, Guzaarish, I am Kalaam, Dhobi Ghat (Hindi), Enthiran, Daivathirumakal, Aadukalam, Ko, Muran (Tamil), Urumi (Malayalam)
