The theme of the movie is based on the breakage of a 100-year-old dam built by the British in India. The cast include Ashish Vidyarthi, Joshua Fredric Smith, Rajit Kapur, Vinay Rai, Vimala Raman, Linda Arsenio, Megha Burman, Jaala Pickering and Jineeth Rath.
The central character of the story is this dam and the life of a few mariners living near it. There are nine characters in the movie, representing the Navarasas.
The film's official website available at http://damthemovie.com/ is the World's first fully interactive 3D website for a movie. The library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscar library) has added the screenplay of Dam 999 as part of its Permanent Core Collection, and is the first Indian movie to do so even before its release.
