For the first time in Kerala, the Thermal and Optical Imaging Face Detection Camera with the help of Artificial Intelligence has been installed at the Central Railway Station. The Thermal Camera was purchased with the funds of Dr. Shashi Tharoor's MP from Amsterdam as it was not available in Asian countries. The instrument was brought to India using multiple flight connections covering Cologne, Paris, Leipzig, Brussels, Bahrain and Dubai before finally reaching Bengaluru, from where it was shipped to Kerala, said Tharoor.
The cameras were installed at the Thiruvananthapuram railway station before the first train carrying the guest workers from Thiruvananthapuram left for Jharkhand. Passengers who arrive at the Thiruvananthapuram railway station will now undergo rapid thermal scanning to identify those who are at risk. This will ensure the safety of the health workers as they can avoid direct contact with the passengers.
