
Trivandrum 6 June 2011: Kerala's own magician Gopinath Muthukad won this years Merlin award regarded as the highest level prize in the field of Magic/Illusion. The award insstituted by the International Magicians Society is considered to be the Oscars for magicians and is the top recognition a magician can achieve in his life time.
Gopinath Muthukad becomes the second Indian after PC Sorcar Jr. to win this coveted award.
The award ceremony will take place in New Delhi on June 23, which will be attended by both national and international magicians. Tony Hassini, the president of the International Magicians' Society, will present the award to Muthukad.

Gopinath Muthukad, aged 47 who hails from Nilambur, Malappuram is one of the leading magicians in India. He founded the first magic academy of Asia in Trivandrum. His noted magic campaigns include Vismaya Bharatha Yatra, Gandhi Mantra, Vismaya Swaraj Yatra, and Mission India, all being national voyages around India.
