Kerala Film Critics Award 2013

Trivandrum/Kerala,, 12 March 2013: Malayalam movie 'Celluloid' directed by Kamal which tells the story of the JC Daniel, the first film-maker in Malayalam bagged the best movie award in the Kerala Film Critics Association. Kamal was selected as the best director and Lal was adjudged as the best actor for the movie 'Ozhimuri'.

Swetha Menon  bagged the best actress award for the movie 'Ozhimuri' and 'Ithra Maathram'.  Ozhimuri directed by Madhupal became the second best film.

Nedumudi Venu was selected for the Chalachitra Ratnam Award and Jerry Amaldev, Jayabharathi and Poojappura RAvi have been selected for the Chalachitra Prathibha award for their overall contribution for the Malayalam film industry.

Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Trivandrum richest temple in India

Trivandrum, 2 July 2011: Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Trivandrum has become the richest temple in India, after the treaure in the form of gold jewelleries, coins, idols and other antiques has been found in its underground chamber.

Treasure worth more than Rs 50,000 crore has been recovered from the temple after a special panel appointed by Supreme Court started its operation to account the assets in the temple five days back.

The treasure inlcude gold coins, gold chains, precious stones like emerald, gems, diamonds, crowns and royal ornaments.



The temple had six chambers of unacccounted gold and one chamber is yet to be opened. Two of these chambers was last opened 136 years ago. The ornaments and other wealth dates back to the time of His Highness Karthika Thirunal Rama Varma who ruled Travancore in the 18th century and also coins of East India company has been found. The value of Rs. 50,000 crores is taken without considering the antique value, and hence it is expected to be double after the final analysis.

Thirupathi Venkateswara Swami Temple of Andhra Pradesh is currently being regarded as the richest temple in India with a net worth of Rs. 50,000 crores. However if reports has to be believed, Sree Padmanabha temple, Trivandrum will become the richest temple in India with a net worth of more than One Lakh crores.

After this discovery, steps has been made to increase the internal and external security of the temple.

Kerala CMs Office Watch Live Video Online at www.keralacm.gov.in

Trivandrum, 2 July 2011: The Kerala Chief Minsiter's office has started live Webcasting of the activities at the official website www.keralacm.gov.in.

The inauguration of the webcasting has been done by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy yesterday. The Chief Minister had announced his decision to go in for a live web cast of his office as part of the 100 day programme and to bring in transparency in administration.



The official website www.keralacm.gov.in will provide Cabinet Briefing-Live webcast of meetings, press conferences etc from Chief Ministers office including Cabinet briefings, Press release, online facility to lodge complaint and its tracking, send ideas/suggestion to Chief Minister for formulating development plan for Kerala- ‘Vision 2030’, option for citizen journalism-people can send footage of events/issues, Documents related to Government, Asset Disclosure Form, Cartoons appeared on news papers/periodicals, Press Cuttings related to Government and Chief Minister, Stories and cartoons from the book ‘ Kunjoonju kathakalum alpam karyangalum’, Option to communicate with Chief Minister through Social Network such as Facebook and link to U tube Channel- for vidieos of Chief Minister etc.

Gopinath Muthukad wins Merlin Award, highest international prize

Trivandrum 6 June 2011: Kerala's own magician Gopinath Muthukad won this years Merlin award regarded as the highest level prize in the field of Magic/Illusion. The award insstituted by the International Magicians Society is considered to be the Oscars for magicians and is the top recognition a magician can achieve in his life time.

Gopinath Muthukad becomes the second Indian after PC Sorcar Jr. to win this coveted award.

The award ceremony will take place in New Delhi on June 23, which will be attended by both national and international magicians. Tony Hassini, the president of the International Magicians' Society, will present the award to Muthukad.

Irfan V bags first rank in Medical Entrance 2011

The results of the Kerala Engineering and Medical Entrance 2011 has been announced by the minister for Education PK Abdu Rabb.

Irfan V from Malappuram got the first rank and Shaammy N from Kollam got the second rank followed by Ashitha P from Ernakulam in the Medical section.

Engineering ranklist has also announced, however the engineering results will be only complete after preparation of ranklist comprising of the Plus two marks which will be made available on June 25, 2011.

38306 students have scored aggregate of at least 50% marks in the Medical Entrance Examinations to become eligible for MBBS/BDS Courses under State Merit.

2 questions, one from Physics and another from Mathematics have been deleted from valuation in the Engineering Entrance question paper whereas four questions has been deleted from the Medical stream.

Rathinirvedam.com (new) Rathinirvedam 2 Website launched

The website of Rathinirvedam 2, the remake of the classic movie Rathinirvedam (1978) has been launched.

The website will be available at www.rathinirvedam.com. The landmark movie in the Malayalam film industry Rathinirvedam was directed by Bharathan using the story and screenplay of Padmarajan. Jayabharathi and Krishnachandran did the lead roles in the 1978 movie.

The remake of the movie starring Swetha menon is using the same screenplay by the writer himself. Sreejith Vijay does the role of Pappu. Other cast include Manianpilla Raju, Shammi Thilakan, Guinees Pakru, KPAC Lalitha, Maya Viswanath etc. The movie is directed by TK Rajeev Kumar under the banner Revathy Kalaamandhir. Music is composed by M Jayachandran.

ISRO builds India's fastest Supercomputer SAGA-220

Indian Space Research Organisation has built a supercomputer, which is to be India's fastest supercomputer in terms of theoretical peak performance of 220 TeraFLOPS (220 Trillion Floating Point Operations per second).

The supercomputer is named SAGA 220 which consist of the Graphic Processing Unit (GPU). SAGA 220 stands for Supercomputer for Aerospace with GPU Architecture-220 TeraFLOPS.

The computer is being used by space scientists for solving complex aerospace problems.



"SAGA-220" Supercomputer is fully designed and built by Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre using commercially available hardware, open source software components and in house developments. The system uses 400 NVIDIA Tesla 2070 GPUs and 400 Intel Quad Core Xeon CPUs supplied by WIPRO with a high speed interconnect. With each GPU and CPU providing a performance of 500 GigaFLOPS and 50 GigaFLOPS respectively, the theoretical peak performance of the system amounts to 220 TeraFLOPS. The present GPU system offers significant advantage over the conventional CPU based system in terms of cost, power and space requirements. The total cost of this Supercomputer is about Rs. 14 crores. The system is environmentally green and consumes a power of only 150 kW. This system can also be easily scaled to many PetaFLOPS (1000 TeraFLOPS).

Christian Brothers releases today at Sreekumar, New & Sreevishakh theatres

Christian Brothers, the much awaited multistarrer movie of the year 2011 will be released today all over Kerala.

Christian Brothers directed by hitmaker Joshiy features Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Dileep, Sarath Kumar, Kavya Madhavan, Kaniha, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Lakshmi Rai, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Babu Antony etc in the lead roles.

The story, screenplay of the movie is written by Sibi K Thomas, Udaya Krishna who penned the superhit Twenty Twenty.

Mohanlal enacts the role of a police informer in Mumbai who is misunderstood as a goonda. Dileep is the brother of Mohanlal and Kaniha and Lakshmi Gopalaswamy play their sisters in the movie.

Music of the movie is composed by Deepak Dev.

Vehicle Fancy Registration Number Rules Kerala

Government of Kerala has amended the rules regarding the reservation of fancy registration number to automobiles.

The new regulations for the applications for fancy numbers has been published at the official website of Kerlala Motor Vehicles Department. The new rules which is based on the government order number G.O. (P) No. 03/2011/Tran shall come into effect from 01.03.2011 onwards.
