Vinu Mohan to marry actress Vidya

Actor Vinu Mohan is all set to tie the knot with fellow actress Vidya. Vidya has acted in movies such as MLA Mani Patham Classum Gustheem, Neelambari etc.

Vinu Mohan is the grand son of late actor Kottarakkara Sreedharan Nair and son of actoress Shobha Mohann and nephew of actor Sai Kumar. He made his debut in Malayalma cinema with Lohitadas directed Nivedyam. His noted films include Cycle, Ingenayum Oral, Keralotsavam 2009, Chattambinadu etc.

India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2012

India defeat Pakistan by 8 wickets with 18 balls to spare. Kohli top scores with 78 not out.

Chasing a target of 129 to win, India’s new Mr. Dependable Virat Kohli anchored his team to a commanding 8-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan to open up Group 2 in the Super 8 of ICC 2012 World T20.

Kohli’s unbeaten 78 runs off 61 balls helped India overhaul Pakistan’s total of 128 runs with 3 overs spare thus boosting their run-rate as well. India had terrible start to the chase losing Gautam Gambhir in the very first over for 0 off Raza Hasan but Virender Sehwag (29) and Virat Kohli combined well in the middle stitching together a partnership of 74 runs in 10.1 overs.

Later, Kohli with Yuvraj Singh (19*) lashed the spinners to parts of the park reaching their target in 17 overs.

List of Rubber Tappers in Kerala to be available Online

Trivandrum, 2 October 2012: Kerala State Rubber Board has launched the first digital data bank of rubber tappers in the state.

Professional and amateur tappers can register their names and details in the data bank through rubber producers' societies and field stations of the Board.

The one year long programme to collect data is launched by Rubber Production Department and Economic Research Division of Rubber Research Institute of India.

The programme will be launched by Smt. Sheela Thomas, Chairman, Rubber Board in a function at Chirakkadavu Rubber Producers’ Society in Kanjirappally region at 11 AM on Monday, 1 October 2012.

Kerala University Online verification of Marklists & Certificates at www.ku.directverify.in

Trivandrum, 2 October 2012: University of Kerala has launched an system of online verification of marklists and degree certificates. The service available at www.ku.directverify.in will be formally  inagurated on October 4th by director of vigilance and anti-corruption bureau Venugopal K Nair.

Candidates can upload the marklist  or degree certificate online via the website using a login id. This will be verified by the University authorities and the report will be sent back online.

Cholera reported in Trivandrum: Causes & Prevention

Trivandrum, 2 October 2012: Cholera, which is regarded as one of the deadliest epidemic has been reported at the coastal villages in Trivandrum. Four cases of Cholera has been confirmed so far from Puthiyathura and Vizhinjam regions. The health department has issued an alert along the coastal regions as the disease can spread very rapidly.

Cholera results in vomiting,dehydration and diarrhea which in turn may result in death if not treated. Cholera is spread when faeces  from an infected person gets into the drinking water or food.

Here are some tips on how to keep away from Cholera

1. Drink only boiled or purified water

2. Cook vegetables thoroughly

3. Avoid eating raw fruits, vegetables unwashed

4. Avoid undercooked fish and meat.

5. Chlorination or bleaching of well water.

6. Keep your surrounding clean with good sanitation methods.

Director Sasi Mohan passes away

Film director Sasi Mohan (56),passed away in Kodambakkam in Chennai on Monday morning. He was suffering from liver-related diseases and was under treatment for some time. The end came at 4 am at his residence in Bharathiar Colony.

Coming from Edakkad in Kannur, Sasi Mohan entered the film world as an associate of A B Raj. Later he was associated with famous directors I V Sasi, Hariharan and Sasikumar. He had also produced many movies.

Sasi Mohan had directed over 32 films in Malayalam and Tamil and also many serials for the small screen. His first movie was Chovanna Kannukkal. Some of his famous movies are Rajathu Murimookkan Rajavu, Noottonnu Raavukal, Miss India, Thilakkam, Maapilai Vandachu (Tamil) among others. His last movie was Thilakkam featuring Saji Soman, Thilakan, Umamaheswaran and Jagathy. His films Thilagam (Malayalam) and Bhadrakaliamman (Tamil) were notable.

Dinesan's next project was Oduthalam in Tamil, a tender love story, for which the first copy was only ready when he was affected with the disease.

His family consists of wife Sriranjini and children Sribala and Vishnu (students). His siblings are Ramesh, Suresh, Sumathi, Sujatha and Sukumaran.
