Great Kerala Shopping Utsav 2018

Trivandrum, 29 November 2018: The first edition of the Great Kerala Shopping Utsav 2018, organised by television, print, radio and digital media group of Kerala in connection with the trading community is being held from November 15 to December 16, 2018.

Unlike the Government sponsored Grand Kerala Shopping festival, the GKSU registration is not mandatory.

GKSU partners include Kalyan Developers, Saras, ESAF, KAFF, Wonderla, Ayush, Bismi, Pittappalil, Jos Alukkas, QRS, Mobile King etc.

How to Participate in GKSU

Purchase anything between November 15 to December 16 and retain the bill. Type "GKSU" and whatsapp to 9995811111 from your mobile

You will receive an acknowledgment message with a link to complete the registration

On clicking the link, an online form will appear, where you need to enter the requested details & hit the submit button.

On completion, you will get an onscreen message confirming your registration for lucky draw.

Winner will be informed via SMS to the mobile number provided in the registration form.

Submit the original copy of the bill with valid Government ID proof

Carnival Cinemas Central Mall Opens: Online Booking, Features

Plastic Bottle Recycling machine at Trivandrum Railway Station

A Swachh Bharat Recycling Machine (PET Bottle Recycler Machine) has been installed at Platform No 1 of Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway station. The machine will shred plastic bottles into recyclable granules through the reverse vending process.

It has a processing capacity of 500 PET bottles per day and storage capacity of 5000 shredded PET bottles. The PBR Machine is an innovative step for primary treatment of plastic waste by Swaniti Initiative of SPARC program with the Railways materialized by the CSR funding of Jubilant Foodworks Ltd. in partnership with Wild West Innovations.

SSLC Examination Dates Kerala 2019

The SSLC Examinations 2019 will be held from March 13 to 27, 2019. The change in the earlier announced dates has been done to make up for the loss of working days due to rain and Nipah virus outbreak.

The newly announced exam dates include March 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, and 27.

The schedule of annual examinations in schools are March 15, 16, 22, 23, 28, and 29.

The SSLC examinations were originally scheduled to begin on March 6.  Similarly the Higher secondary examinations are also expected to be held during these days, however the formal announcement is pending.

KTDC Hotel Hostess at Trivandrum Thampanoor Bus Station

Trivandrum: Kerala Tourism Development Corporation KTDC will launch country's first public sector hotel run entirely by women in Trivandrum. The hotel named Hostess will be opened at KTDFC complex at Thampanoor Bus station.

Hostess will offer facilities like automated security features, technology oriented check-ins and check outs, laundry service, complementary breakfast, fitness centre etc. The hotel will be women friendly and target women professionals aiming for short stay in the city.

The Hostess hotel will have 22 AC rooms and two AC dormitories. Rooms will be charged Rs. 1500 per day and dormitory facility will be available at Rs 400 for four hours.

KSRTC Chill Bus Service, Booking, Timings from Trivandrum

Thiruvananthapuram: The regular service of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation's (KSRTC) Chill Bus began  from the Thampanoor bus terminals.

As many as 210 low-floor AC Volvo buses would be part of the Chill Bus fleet criss-crossing the State with services connecting various destinations every hour from the operating centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode.

Sakhavu Khadi Shirts and Dhoties launched

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Khadi Village Industries Board has launched 'Sakhavu' brand of shirts made of pure Khadi.

The Sakhavu Shirts will be available in tinted red colour effect along with other colours. The Khadi board also plans to launch Sakhavu brand of mundu/dhoties too. Last year the Khadi purdah made of Manila cotton launched by the board was a hit in northern Kerala.

The Sakhavu shirts and dhoties will be available for purchase in Khadi outlets this Onam onwards.

Controversial novel Meesa published by DC Books

Thiruvananthapuram: DC Books has published the controversial Malayalam novel "Meesa". The book which will be available from today onwards at DC Book stores was in news
after the novelist S. Hareesh was being allegedly threatened by some right-wing elements on social media. First three chapters of the novel was first published in Mathrubhumi which was later withdrewn following protest. 

In a statement, the DC said if 'Meesha' is not published now, it would be difficult to print a novel or story in future."
