Idea Star Singer Season 5

Idea Star Singer, the musical reality show of Asianet enters into the final stages of its fourth season. Meanwhile applications are invited to the auditions of the new stage Idea Star Singer Season 5.

Recently Idea Star Singer has celebrated its 250th episode, has become the Malayalam televison’s most popular reality show. Actor Dileep, Veteran Play back Singer P.Jayachandran , Asianet’s Senior Vice President(Programmes) R.Sreekandan Nair, Idea Sr.Manager Sasidharan Nair , Jury members Sarath, K.S.Chithra , M.G.Sreekumar etc were present in the 250th episode celebration ceremony.

Pokkiri Raja, Alexander the Great, Katha Thudarunnu Released

Three blockbuster films will be released today after the ban on release of new Malayalam films were lifted yesterday. The movies are Pokkiri Raja with Mammootty, Prithviraj, Shriya Saran, Alexander the Great by Mohanlal and Katha Thudarum by Satyan Anthikad-Jayaram.

It is after a long gap the movies by Mammootty, Mohanla and Jayaram are released in one day.

Pokkiri raja which is releasing all over India with major openings at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore can be watched in Sreekumar, Dhanya and Ramya Theatres. Alexander the Great is released in Kripa theatre and Katha thudarunnu at Kairali with 4 shows each.

TV Anupama gets 4th Rank in Civil Services

Anupama TV of Ponnani, Kerala secured fourth rank in the Civil Services (Main) Examination of 2009. She is the highest rank holder in Kerala.

PA Sreevidya of Kottarakkara (14), Devi Gopinath, Kaimanam, Trivandrum (81), Eldos Mathew Punnoose, Chenganoor (96) are the other top rank holders.

Other city-based candidates include N.M. Veena (207), S.L. Sreeparvathy (479), L. Deepthi (586), Reuben Mathew Jacob (600) and Neethu Sona (727).

FILCA International Film Festival 2010 Trivandrum

The 10th International Film Festival, organised by the Film Lovers' Cultural Association (Filca) will be held at Trivandrum from 7 to 13 May.

Adoor Gopalakrishnan will inaugurate the film festival on 7 May, which will be followed by the screening of the movie Phir Kabhi by VK Prakash.

Pipeline breakage at Trivandrum Vazhayila; Water supply disrupted

A major break has occured in water authority pipeline to Trivandrum city at Vazhayila, Peroorkada.

Water supply to the city has been disrupted from today evening. The work for rectifying the damages has been started. The authorities has informed that water supply will be resumed only after 3 pm tommorrow.

Traffic diversions at Thampanoor - Manorama Jn - Panavila

There will be traffic diversion at the Panavila - Thampanoor road leading to the Thampanoor bus station and railway station from May 7 onwards.

The traffic diversion is as a result of laying of pipes under the JICA drinking water project in the city.

All vehicles from Thampanoor to Kattakkada can ply through Thycaud flyover and in front of New Theatre - W&C Hospital - , Thycaud - Mettukada junction - Swathi Thirunal Music College - Model High School - Guest House junction.

Orunaal Varum Trailer Dasan-Vijayan Animated Cat & Mouse

A new innovative trailer has been created for the new Mohanlal movie ' Oru Naal Varum'. In the trailer Mohanlal is seen as a brown cat being chased by Sreenivasan, the mouse resembling Tom and Jerry.

The cat and the mouse will not be called Tom and Jerry but ‘Dasan-Vijayan’

The trailer has been created by Vismayas Max Animations, Mohanlal’s own animation studio in Trivandrum

Actor Suraj Venjaramoodu, another cat is the third person apart Mohanlal and Sreenivasan in the trailer.

The movie Oru Naal Varum will hit the theatres during May 2010.

New International Terminal at Trivandrum Airport

The new international terminal of the Thiruvananthapuram Airport will be inaugurated on May 20.

Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel, Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan will be the guests of the event.

The new terminal building is built at a cost of Rs 300 crore.

Pension Treasury Savings Bank (PTSB)

The State pensioners can obtain their monthly pension through their Pension Treasury Savings Bank (PTSB) today onwards.

The government order regarding thhe PTSB is as follows

G.O (P) No.230/10/Fin dated 09/04/2010 Government have accorded sanction for opening of Pension Treasury Savings Bank (PTSB) account for all Pensioners with the following conditions:

PTSB account may be opened for all pensioners without any formal application in relaxation of the provision under Rule 10 and 11 of Appendix 3 of the KTC Vol.II. The pensioners who are already drawing their pension through Nationalised Banks and those who are receiving pension through money order will have the option to join PTSB.

Application and declaration as contemplated in Rule 10 and 11 of Appendix 3 of KTC Vol II may be obtained within a period of six months.

A letter of undertaking to the extent that adjusting/recovery of excess pension/excess amount if any credited may be obtained from each account holder within a period of six months.

Account holders may be allowed six months time for filing nominations as per SB rules. Till then the nominee for the pensionary benefits will be the nominee for the PTSB also.

All pensionary benefits including terminal surrender will be disbursed only through PTSB from 1.4.2010 onwards.

Kerala Migrant Workers' Welfare Programme launched

Kerala Migrant Workers' Welfare Programme, a state government initiative for prootecting the rights of migrant workers who are currenlty in Kearala has been launched.

This is the first such initiative in India which offers social security for migrant people working in different areas in the state.

The migrant workers population comes mainly from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar and West Bengal and most of them are working in construction industry.

Under this scheme the Migrant workers have to register their names at Rs.30 a year.
