Munnar ranked second best Asian tourism destination in the world

Munnar, the travellers ultimate destination in Kerala has been rated as the second best Asian tourism destination in the world by TripAdvisor. Tokyo, Japan ranked first.

Munnar won TripAdvisor's 2010 Traveller's Choice Destination award. Eight other Indian destinations Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Manali, Hampi, Goa, Udaipur, Gangtok, Bangalore and Dharamsala won a position in the top 25 Asian destinations list.

IPL Kochi franchisee meets KCA members

The Kerala IPL team owners Rendezvous Sports Consortium met with the office-bearers of the Kerala Cricket Association at Trivandrum yesterday.

Trivandrum MP Shashi Tharoor, Team CEO PT Keshav, Chinthan Vora, Kailash Singhal, Vivek Venugopal, etc attended the meeting. They asserted that the matches will take place at Kochi itself, chances of conducting some matches at another venue like Trivandrum is also considered. The name and other details of the team will be announced later this month.

The members of the consortium ment Opposition leader Oommen Chandy along with Shashi Tharoor and had a discussion. The consortium later planned a meeting with chief minister VS Achuthanandan but had to postpone it to today.

According to unconfirmed reports the team will rope Ricky Ponting, Mahela Jayawardene, S. Sreesanth in the team and former Australian captain Steve Waugh will be the advisor of the team.

Kollam-Punalur broad guage line opens

The revamped railway line between Kollam and Punalur which has been converted from meter guage to broad gauge will open today.

Union Minister of State for Railways E. Ahamed will commission the line and flag off the new train services in Kollam railway station at 11.30 a.m.

The conversion work of the 44 km railway line was started in 1998, but the work was delayed which later restarted in 2007.

Two trains each, both in the morning and evening will be offered in the line.
