IFFK 2011 : 'Aadimadhyandham' Omitted From International Competition List

Trivandrum, December 2, 2011: Malayalam movie 'Aadimadhyandham' has been omitted from the list of International competition.

The reason is that it hasn't completed the production work yet. The omission came after the intervention of Priyadashan, the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy Chairman.

Apart from 'Aadimadhyantham' only 'Adaminte Makan Abu'is the lone Malayalam movie in the list. The omission shortened the movies list from 14 to 13.

'December Fest' at Trivandrum GKSF 2011 Shopping Festival

Trivandrum, 2 December 2011: The Trivandrum district shopping festival "December Fest" conducted in connection with the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival 2011 will be held from December 25, 2011 to January 5, 2012 at Kanakakkunnu palace premises.

The Festival will showcase Kerala handicrafts, Khadi, tribal dishes, and lot more.

The cultural events will be held in connection with the festival which includes a special display of Theyyam.

The 'Anthichantha' organised in the December Fest will offer roadside shopping experience in the city. Special awards for the best consumer and the best trader is also offered.

Keralotsavam 2011 Trivandrum

Trivandrum, 2 December 2011: Keralotsavam 2011 organised by Youth Welfare Board and the Trivandrum Corporation will be held at various locations in the city from today onwards. The event which showcases the artistic talents and sports capabilities of Kerala youth aged 15-35.

Music and dance competitons will be held at Cotton Hill HSS, Trivandrum and Sports competitons will be held at Central Stadium. Aquatic competitions will be held at Karumam aquatic complex.

This year a Twenty20 cricket competiton will also be held between teams from the distict.

New Bus Stand and Shopping Complex at East Fort

Trivandrum, 1 December 2011: A new bus stand and shopping complex will be setup at East Fort soon.

The new bus stand will be constructed at the land provided by Central highschool, East fort. The government will also build new classrooms for the school in return.

The shopping complex at the bus stand will be opened to the shop owners at Thakaraparambu who will be evacuated as a result of the work of the new flyover there.

The decisions were made in the high level meeting held at the Secretatiat chamber today.

Under the Hawthorn Tree - Inaugural film of IFFK 2011

Trivandrum, 1 December 2011: The International Film Festival of Kerala IFFK 2011 will be inaugurated on December 9, 2011 at the function held at Nishagandhi auditorium, Trivandrum.

The Chinese film Under the Hawthorn Tree directed by Zhang Yimou will be the inaugural film. The film was the opening film for Pusan film festival 2010, Hawaii International film festival 2011, closing film of Hong Kong Asian film festival amd a;sp showcased in various film festivals like Venice Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival this year.

The story of the film is adapted from the popular novel Hawthorn Tree Forever by Ai Mi, which was based on a true story, and was set during the Cultural Revolution.

Grand Kerala Shopping Festival GKSF 2011 Inaugurated

Akshaya e-District Project Extends to All 14 Districts

Trivandrum, November 30, 2011: Kerala Government’s e-governance programme, the e-District project has been resolved to extend to all 14 districts as announced during the Akshaya Day celebrations.

The Minister for Industries & IT, P K Kunhalikutty at the function of the Akshaya Day celebrations in Thiruvananthapuram, had announced that the e-District project will be extended to all the 14 districts of the State.

Currently, the e-District project covers only two districts of Palakkad and Kannur, where it was launched in 2010.

Dibrugarh-Trivandrum-Kanyakumari Vivek Express Regular Service Started

Trivandrum, 28 November 2011: The regular service of the newly alloted weekly Dibrugarh- Kanyakumari-Dibrugarh Vivek Express will commence on November 26 from the Kanyakumari railway station.

The train will cover 4500 kms in one journey and will replace the Himsagar Express running between Jammu Tawi and Kanyakumari as the train which covers the maximum distance in India. Currently Himsagar Express runs the longest route which covers 3751kms.

The Dibrugarh - Trivandrum Kanyakumari Vivek Express is one of the four Vivek Express trains announced to commomerate the 150th birth centenary of Swami Vivekananda.

This plan will have all the features of the existing Maveli Plan

Trivandrum, November 27, 2011: Trivandrum Corporation has tightened all it strings as 46 persons have been caught for throwing waste in public places in the city limits.

Corporation has setup a special health squad for the purpose and the squad is working round the clock in last 10 days and the work have given good results.

The health squad asks for the co-operation of the public to stop the public nuisance and also given a number to report if they have seen anyone throwing waste in public places. The number is 9496434517.
